The sticker price is rarely what you pay. This breaks down every line that lands on a real mini excavator invoice so you can compare quotes on equal footing.
Tonnage and engine drive the number more than anything else. A gas 1-ton starts near $6,580; a Kubota-diesel 3.2-ton lands in the low thirties. Cab, heat, and thumb options move it a few thousand either way.
Freight is the line buyers forget. Ours is flat-rate by distance and quoted before you pay — $300 under 150 miles, $500 to 300 miles, $800 to 600 miles, $1,200 to 999 miles, $1,500 to 1,500 miles, and $2,300 beyond that. Local pickup at our Virginia warehouse is free by appointment.
Budget for the work, not just the machine. A grading bucket, a thumb and a breaker are the three that pay for themselves fastest. Attachments ship free when purchased with a machine, which is worth a few hundred dollars on its own.
Virginia sales tax is 5.3%. Card payments carry a 3% processing fee; ACH and check carry none. Commercial financing spreads the machine over 24–60 months for qualified businesses.
Two reasons: legacy brands price a national dealer network into every machine, and many online sellers quote a low machine price then add prep, freight and doc fees at signing. Compare all-in delivered numbers, not stickers.
It depends entirely on the engine and the parts pipeline. A low-cost machine with a genuine Kubota or Briggs & Stratton engine and domestic parts stock is a good buy. A low-cost machine with an unbranded engine and no parts support is not.
Somewhat — Section 179 tax deadlines push a lot of commercial buyers into Q4, and inventory moves. The bigger lever is simply calling and asking; we quote our best number over the phone at (804) 499-2129.
